Spring is in the Air!

Well, it feels that way lately in Southern Oklahoma, lol!  We've had some days above 70 degrees!  And, after a trip to Wal-Mart today where I saw all the cute springy, Eastery, pastel-y things on the shelves, I really started getting spring fever!

So, facing the challenge at the Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge Blog, I wanted to go with that spring theme.

Lol, I even added a spring to my project!  The challenge is to use something metal.  So I upcycled a veggie can, and turned it into this pencil cup with a little help from my Peachy Keen Stamps: the Teddy Bear Face Assortment and the Christmas Greeting Words (there are a few sentiments on there that you can use on non-Christmas projects--love the versatility!) and from my Cricut Lite Teddy Bear Parade, and from my little DS, who added the washi tape around the top of the can so no one would cut their fingers!

Colorful and bright--various makers of washi tape--one of my newest addictions!

A little inking on the edges of the bear, some white gel to make those eyes pop, and a little pen stitching to the bear . . . then an extra vellum layer for the wings and a pearl for her flower . . .

Twisting a little on her buzzy wire trail . . .  popped up to offer that cute flower and a smile . . .

The sentiment stamped just perfectly, even on textured cardstock!  I punched it using some Stampin' Up! tools, and added a little brad to go with the metal theme.

I couldn't decide at first what to put in the little can, but I decided to go with pencils and give it to the school librarian, so she can spruce up her desk.  I'm always giving my kids' teachers little things, but forgetting the others in their school.  So I need to spread a little love and spring-y-ness around!

I waited around a little close this time, but make sure you check out the Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge #13-8:: 3D objects:: metal!

A Bushel of Hugs for You!

Well, I have  a bushel of hugs for my DH!  Today's his birthday, and since it's not harvest season or even planting season, I guess hugs are all he's gettin', lol!  Seriously though, it was hard for me to come up with a theme for his card, but as I was thumbing through my stamp sets, I saw this sentiment in my new "Fruit Sentiments ONE" set from Peachy Keen and thought it would fit my DH since he's our gardener.  He has started plowing the garden; so does that count?

Anyway, the inspiration for my card came from the sentiment and Peachy Keen's current sketch challenge.  You can find it here.

I used all scraps from my stash--seriously, I could make 1,000 cards from all those scraps I keep, lol.  I cut the bushel basket from Cricut's DoodleCharms and the veggies from Country Life.  I added Peachy Faces from the PK-500 Snow Cutie Face Assortment (versatile!) and the sentiment I told you about above.

I couldn't resist those cute faces, and since the card will be from the kids, too, I thought we could go with cuteness on the grown man's card! lol!

A side view so you can see how I popped up the basket and veggies.

The inside has another sentiment from the PK-162 Fruit Sentiment ONE set.

Well, now that the card is finished and posted, I have to go clean house--DH's grown daughter and her family are coming over for dinner and birthday cake.  At least she's bringing the dinner!  That's a plus for me, and it's not even my birthday!!

Hope you like this card!!  It kind of makes me hungry for some fresh vegetables from the garden . . .

"Soda-lightful" Valentine card

Nothing like making a Valentine card at the last minute!  Here's the card I made for my oldest daughter; she loves Bottle Caps candy and root beer is her favorite soda!

I used all scraps from my stash!  I used Cricut's Everyday Paper Dolls for the pop bottle.  It was an accessory that had a straw, so I cut it off, and I added a little twine from Doodlebug and some adhesive bling.  (I tried to make them look like fizz!)  The hearts are punched from two different Stampin' Up! punches.  I used Peachy Keen Stamps' January release for the lips and SWAK.

The face is from Peachy Keen's Cherub Face Assortment.  I added a little chalk and some detail with my white Gelly roll pen.

The sentiment is my whole inspiration for the card and the gift! Lol!  It's from Joy's Life Yummy Pun set.

Did you notice that the candy sticks' flavors are Cherry Cola and Root Beer?  I got them from Cracker Barrel.  I love that store for the novelty candy!

Hope you like this card! I'm entering it in Peachy Keen's challenge this week:  Anything Goes!  You can find it here.

Love my B-O-Y!!

Here's a scrapbook layout about my little boy.  I just started following About a Boy: Scrapbooking Challenge Blog.  Their very first challenge is this month, and all you have to do is submit a layout introducing your boy.  So here we go:

You can submit pages about your husband, son, any male in your life.  I used a swap from It's a Scrapbooking Swap Thing (IASST) for most of my page elements!  It really makes a page come together quickly when you have all the stuff ready.  The patterned papers are from Nikki Sivils, and the solid is Bazzill.

I used a navy blue pen and some Waterfall Stickles to highlight his name, giving it a boyish look.

My subtitle got the same treatment, but I added a heart and the word love for the challenge at Frosted Designs.  I have to be subtle with the heartsy stuff--he's a real B-O-Y and starting to stick his tongue out at that gushy stuff, lol.

I used a sketch from Sketch n' Scrap; it's their February challenge.

So, I hope you enjoyed this little layout.  I'll be working on some baby girl pages soon; as both of my older kids are reminding me that her baby book isn't even finished yet!  If you have time, check out these challenges.  I'm entering my page in all of these:

Love Bear Card

Here's a card I made for the Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge for this week.  It's a photo/color challenge:

Since I was doing a Valentine card, I didn't use the blue colors, just the browns and red.  Here's the card I made for my husband.

I used Peachy Keen's January, 2013 release set for the bear.  I paper-pieced it, which is something that I haven't tried much of, but I love this result!  I popped the heart and his hands up with foam tape and used Stampin' Up!'s color wonder crayons to add some shading on the bear, and a white Gelly roll for details on his eyes.  And I stamped the sentiment into the middle of the heart.

Here's a close up of the cutesy teddy face!  Hope you liked this card!  You can check out the Peachy Keen Challenge #13-5: Photo Inspiration here.
